Hackney Moped Drama Ends in Shocking Slash Attack
Just before midday on Friday 30 July, chaos erupted on Hoxton Street, Hackney, when a man in his late 30s was slashed across the face during a moped spat.
Face-Slash After Moped Stand-Off
The victim had stopped at traffic lights near the A10 and Cremer Street. Another moped rider pulled up, followed him through Cremer and Nazrul Streets, and then both men got off their bikes.
The pair, who knew each other, shouted at each other on the pavement. Suddenly, the other man brandished a knife and slashed the victim’s face before a member of the public stepped in to break up the fight.
Suspect Arrested – Victim Treated and Released
The injured man was rushed to hospital, treated, and discharged the same day. Police arrested a 41-year-old on 5 August on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and threats to kill. He has since been bailed.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Footage

“The victim was lucky not to suffer worse injuries. We are determined to get knives and dangerous offenders off our streets – but we need the public’s help.”
