Tragedy in Dorset as Man Killed and Woman Injured in Horrific Stabbing

Man Dead, Woman Critical After Stabbing at Dorset Home

Dorset Police were called to a property in Higher Langham at 7.30pm on Wednesday, 7 April 2021, following serious concerns for the occupants’ welfare. Officers discovered a man in his 80s and a woman in her 60s, both suffering from stab wounds.

Emergency services arrived swiftly, but the elderly man was pronounced dead at the scene around 9.15pm. The woman was airlifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol, where she remains in a critical condition.

Suspect Arrested After Police Pursuit to London

Following urgent enquiries, police traced a vehicle linked to the incident travelling eastbound on the A303. With help from Wiltshire, Hampshire, Thames Valley, Surrey, and Metropolitan Police forces, the car was stopped in Hammersmith, London.

A 34-year-old man from Gillingham was arrested on suspicion of murder. He was taken to hospital for treatment of injuries deemed non-life-threatening. The suspect is known to the victims.

Ongoing Investigation and Appeal for Witnesses

Dorset Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team is leading the probe. Detective Inspector Simon Huxter said:

“Our thoughts are with the family of the man who sadly died and the injured woman at this extremely difficult time. They are being supported by specially-trained officers.”

“We are carrying out a full investigation to establish exactly what happened. We urge anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in Higher Langham on the evening of 7 April to come forward.”

A police cordon remains at the scene, with a strong police presence in the area. Officers are available to speak with the public about any information or concerns.
