Conmen Target Station Road Residents with Fake Safety Checks

On Monday 3 July 2023, a man posing as a smoke alarm inspector duped a Station Road resident. After gaining entry, he vanished — and so did a stash of cash from the home.

Later that same day, an elderly pensioner on Station Road fell victim to a similar scam. A man claiming to check the electrics left the property. Soon after, the victim discovered their purse had been stolen.

Police Release Image of Suspect in Safety Check Thefts

Detective Constable Emma Laimbeer from the Kent Crime Squad said: “We have been investigating these incidents, including reviewing CCTV footage, and are now sharing an image of a man we want to identify.”

She added: “We urge anyone who recognises this individual or has any information to get in touch and help our enquiries.”
