£12M Football Boost Set to Transform London’s Community Sport

London’s grassroots football is getting a massive lift with a £12 million investment pumping new life into pitches, changing rooms, and sports facilities across the city. From Barking to Brixton, these upgrades are set to revolutionise local football scenes and community sport.

Pitch Perfect: Barking, Dagenham and Beyond

Parsloes Park in Barking and Dagenham is leading the charge with a major overhaul. The park will feature three full-size, floodlit 3G football turf pitches, along with a brand new gym, studio space, improved changing rooms, and a café with social space to keep fans and players buzzing.

Tigers JFC, winners at the London Sport Awards, will benefit from fresh new facilities at Brittons Playing Field. The redevelopment aims to tackle the borough’s pitch shortage, giving local clubs much-needed room to play.

Community Focus in Brixton and Beyond

Charities St Matthew’s Project and CEF Lyncx will roll out disability sports sessions and multi-sports activities at a new floodlit multi-use games area on Brixton’s Roupell Estate. Meanwhile, the Fulham Foundation plans to run a packed schedule including Kicks football, Walking Football, Wildcats, and Mental Health sessions.

State-of-the-Art Facilities for All

Capital City Academy is set to build brand new accessible changing rooms, making sports more inclusive. In addition, 1 Academy’s new pitches will host a variety of community programmes. These include initiatives with the Met Police tackling youth offending, health schemes from OneYou Westminster and Man v Fat, and cultural projects like London Tigers Asian 1 and Unity in the Community.

Government, FA and Premier League Back Local Football

Projects stretching across Brent, Enfield, Greenwich, and Wandsworth are also in line for upgrades thanks to a government push to level up football facilities nationwide. Partnered with the FA and Premier League, this local football facility plan aims to secure high-quality pitches and amenities for more communities across the UK.

The goal is simple: get more people playing, make facilities accessible, and foster a stronger, healthier sporting culture in every London borough and beyond.
