Emergency Scramble Over Suspected Acid Attack at East London School

Police, paramedics, and fire crews rushed to Gosset Street, Bethnal Green, East London, on Friday, December 2nd, after reports of an acid attack at Mulberry Academy Shoreditch.

Witnesses Report Corrosive Substance Thrown

The alarm was raised around 1pm when witnesses said a corrosive liquid was hurled at a person following an altercation. The London Fire Brigade dispatched a Detection, Identification and Monitoring unit alongside the London Ambulance Service’s “Hart” team and Met Police officers.

Police Say No Corrosive Substance Found, No Injuries

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson clarified: “Police were called shortly before 12:50pm on Friday, December 2, to Gosset Street, E2, after reports of a woman throwing liquid at people. A third party reported liquid had been thrown at a 17-year-old girl. No injuries were reported and the girl did not require medical attention. The liquid is not believed to be a corrosive substance.”

They added that officers attended with London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade as a precaution. No other injuries were reported. Police continue inquiries and are conducting reassurance patrols in the area.

The full details of the incident remain unclear. Both the Met Police and London Ambulance Service have been approached for further comment.
