Acid Attack Horror in Clapham South: Child Among Victims

Chaos erupted on Wednesday evening in Lambeth’s Clapham South as a suspected acid attack left several people injured, including a nine-year-old girl. Eyewitnesses described a terrifying scene where a man tried to “run a woman over” with a corrosive substance while also throwing the child to the ground.

Swift Police Response on Lessar Avenue

The brutal attack took place around 7:25pm on January 31st. The Metropolitan Police rushed to the scene on Lessar Avenue, SW4, launching an intense manhunt for the suspect.

Detective Superintendent Alexander Castle told the press: “Officers are on the case. We will provide updates on the victims’ conditions as soon as possible.”

In the mayhem, three police officers were also hurt, with two requiring hospital treatment for head injuries. Thankfully, their wounds are not life-threatening.

Ongoing Investigation: What Is the Corrosive Substance?

Police are currently testing the substance used in the attack but believe it to be corrosive. Detective Superintendent Castle said, “While tests are ongoing, at this stage we believe the substance is corrosive.”

Witnesses say the attacker fled the scene immediately, sparking a huge police operation to track him down and uncover his motives.

National Police Air Service Joins Manhunt

The National Police Air Service has deployed aerial support in the hunt for the suspect. Authorities urge anyone with information to call 999 immediately, quoting reference CAD 7790/31 Jan.

So far, no arrests have been made. Police remain determined to bring those behind this cruel attack to justice.
