Five Trapped in Bermondsey Blaze Rescued by Firefighters

Firefighters leapt into action in the early hours to rescue five people – including a child – from a flat fire on Preston Close, Bermondsey. Most of a two-room ground floor flat was gutted in the blaze.

Brave Crew Save Residents from Smoke and Flames

Wearing breathing apparatus, crews pulled two adults and a child from the second floor. Another two adults trapped on the first floor were also rescued. All victims received on-scene treatment from London Ambulance Service paramedics.

Meanwhile, 999 Control Officers provided crucial fire survival advice to residents on the first and second floors, helping them stay safe until firefighters arrived.

Massive Response and Investigation Underway

  • Fire Brigade called at 1.20am
  • Blaze under control by 2.30am
  • Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters from multiple stations attended
  • One firefighter injured during the rescue

The cause of the fire is now being probed by the Fire Brigade and Metropolitan Police.
