A Woman Has Been Jailed For The Murder Of Her Partner In Croydon

Woman Jailed for Life Over Fatal Stabbing of 19-Year-Old

Kamila Ahmad, 24, from Mitcham, has been locked up for a minimum of 23 years at Croydon Crown Court. She was found guilty of fatally stabbing 19-year-old Tai Jordan O’Donnell.

Previous Knife Attack Surfaces

Ahmad was also convicted of a separate knife attack on a man in 2015, linked to a domestic dispute over a remote control. She received a seven-year sentence for that charge, to run at the same time.

Grisly Crime Scene and Investigation

On 3 March 2021, police and paramedics rushed to a flat on Alpha Road, Croydon, after reports of a stabbing. Tai was found dying on a sofa, suffering severe blood loss from a stab wound to his left thigh. Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene, hours after the attack.

Blood stains and pools were found inside and outside the property, with signs someone had tried to clean up. Blood-stained clothing was found near the washing machine, indicating a desperate attempt to cover up the crime.

Forensic Evidence and Court Drama

Ahmad was arrested just two days after the stabbing but initially denied any involvement. Police later found a bloodstained rucksack and jacket linked to her, with DNA matching Tai.

In court, the jury heard how Ahmad’s 2015 attack mirrored the fatal stabbing, leading them to dismiss her self-defence claim. The earlier victim, her then partner, was stabbed three times before being left outside to fake an unknown attacker. He eventually came forward to support Tai’s murder investigation.

Detective Sergeant Dave Brooks, Specialist Crime Command, said: “Tai was a much-loved son and brother. His death has devastated his family, and their lives will never be the same. Our thoughts remain with them.”

DS Brooks added: “The Met takes all domestic abuse seriously. We urge anyone living with violence, regardless of gender, to seek help.”
