Mobility Scooter Theft Leaves Elderly Woman Stranded in Eccles
Greater Manchester Police are hunting thieves who stole a mobility scooter from an 80-year-old woman in Eccles. The robbery happened on the evening of September 8, 2024, around 7pm on Clarendon Road.
Victim Left Without Independence
PC Sarah Whitfield, leading the investigation, revealed how the victim relies heavily on her scooter due to serious mobility issues. She said, “The victim cannot walk very far due to mobility issues and relies on her mobility scooter to make short trips to local shops or catch a bus. She has lost her independence since her scooter was taken from her.”
The scooter was later found by police but had been stripped of all its parts, making it useless. This cruel act has left the elderly woman unable to carry out her daily routine.
Police Release CCTV Images to ID Suspects
Officers have released CCTV images of three men they want to speak to in connection with the theft. These images have been shared to urge the public to help identify the suspects.
PC Whitfield appealed, “We are asking anyone who may have noticed something suspicious around the Clarendon Road area of Eccles on the evening of September 8, or anyone who recognises the men in the image, to contact us, as they may be able to assist with our inquiries.”
