Greta Thunberg was arrested in central London for openly supporting Palestine Action, a banned group. City of London Police confirmed a 22-year-old woman was taken into custody for displaying a placard linked to the organisation, under Section 13 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
Video shared by the Prisoners for Palestine group shows Greta holding a sign reading: “I support the Palestine Action prisoners. I oppose genocide.” The demonstration unfolded outside Aspen Insurance’s London offices.
Protest Hits Israeli-Connected Defence Firm
The rally targeted Aspen Insurance due to its business ties with Israeli defence giant Elbit Systems, campaigners claim. Activists sprayed red paint across the building’s facade before police intervened.
Greta joined the protest to stand by Palestine Action members on remand, several of whom have been on hunger strike for weeks. Some have stopped after health concerns, but others continue their protest.
Police Reveal Arrests and Property Damage
“At around 7am this morning, hammers and red paint were used to damage a building on Fenchurch Street. A man and a woman were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage after gluing themselves nearby. Specialist officers are working to release them and bring them into custody.”
“Shortly after, a 22-year-old woman was arrested for displaying a placard supporting Palestine Action, contrary to Section 13 of the Terrorism Act 2000.”
