About 30 officers swarmed the scene shortly after 1:30pm following stabbing reports. Dramatic footage circulating on social media captures the chaotic aftermath.
Video shows the injured officer writhing in agony on the ground, screaming in pain while colleagues rush to help. Just feet away, a man is detained and tasered before being handcuffed by police.
Witnesses reported seeing the officer clutching his leg and struggling to stand as fellow officers formed a protective shield around him. Multiple police vehicles flooded the streets as the area was secured.

“It was absolute chaos. One minute it was quiet, the next there were sirens everywhere, and an officer was down. Horrific to see,” one onlooker told Uk News in Pictures.
