Sex Attack Shakes Shoeburyness Park
Shoeburyness locals have been left shaken after a sexual assault was reported in Gunners Park on Tuesday morning.
At around 10am on October 17, police rushed to the scene following reports that a woman walking her dog was grabbed and sexually assaulted by a stranger.
Victim Supported as Police Hunt Suspect
The victim was approached by a man who briefly chatted before grabbing her arms and assaulting her. She is now receiving specialist support while officers launch a full investigation.
No arrests have been made yet, but police have stepped up patrols in the park—not because of an ongoing threat, but to offer reassurance and hear residents’ concerns first-hand.
Suspect Description Released
Chief Inspector Jo Collins, Southend District Commander, said: “Incidents like this are rare, but we understand the worry it causes.” She urged anyone with information to come forward.
The suspect is described as:
- White male
- About 5’8” tall
- Late 50s
- Short, thinning white hair
- Wearing a blue coat or jacket at the time
