Tragic Child Death on A259: Van Flees Scene
A seven-year-old boy named 1 Brown died at the scene of a crash on the A259 Sandgate Esplanade near Prospect Road junction on Wednesday, 6 December 2023 at around 5.35pm.
The smash involved a grey Peugeot van and a red Citroen car. Emergency services rushed to the scene, but the van driver fled before help arrived.
Local Man Arrested Over Fatal Crash
The next day, at about 5.15pm on Thursday, 7 December, police arrested a 49-year-old man in Dymchurch. He faces charges including causing death by dangerous driving, causing death by careless driving, failing to stop, and perverting the course of justice.
The man has been bailed until 6 March 2024 pending further enquiries.
