Just Stop Oil Chaos: 115 Activists Nabbed in Major A41 Protest Bust
London’s streets were thrown into chaos on Monday, November 13, as police hauled away 115 Just Stop Oil activists staging a slow march on the busy A41 in Hendon. Officers wasted no time, arresting the protesters under the Public Order Act 2023 after they brought rush hour traffic to a grinding halt.
Swift Police Action Shuts Down Brent Flyover
After the mass arrests along the A41, the remaining activists pushed south onto the Brent flyover. The Territorial Support Group (TSG) quickly closed one end of the carriageway, trapping the protesters. This move let police divert traffic and pin down the group until all were taken into custody. All detainees remain held as authorities crack down further.
Commander Warns Against Disruptive Protests
“This has been the largest number of Just Stop Oil arrests we have made in a single day during their autumn campaign,” said Commander Colin Wingrove. “Their disruption came a day after an intense protest in London.”
Wingrove stressed that officers want to support communities but were forced to pull cops from other duties to handle the protest. He made clear that while peaceful protest is vital to democracy, Just Stop Oil’s push for illegal actions and damage is unacceptable.
Rush Hour Mayhem Hits Commuters and Families
Highlighting the timing of the slow march during rush hour, Wingrove pointed out the ripple effect on everyday Londoners. Parents rushing kids to school, patients heading to appointments, and tradespeople relying on tight schedules were all hit hard. He urged anyone affected to report the disruption through the dedicated portal.
“Officers will keep acting fast to reduce the impact on Londoners who suffer from these protests,” Wingrove concluded.
