Sergeant John Woodward Speaks Out: “We’re Here to Keep Students Safe”
“Every year Canterbury welcomes around 40,000 students. We’re determined to keep them safe and stop them falling victim to crime,” said Sgt John Woodward. “Many are living away from home for the first time. We work closely with universities to offer all necessary support.”
He also revealed plans to roll out the Best Bar None scheme citywide, pushing licensed venues to adopt tougher safety measures to tackle drink spiking and violence against women.
“We wish all of Canterbury’s students a safe, successful year. If any freshers have concerns, we urge them to contact the Community Safety Unit,” Woodward added.
