Teen Shot in Kesgrave: Police Say ‘Isolated Incident’
A 15-year-old boy is fighting for his life after being shot in Kesgrave during his walk to school. Police launched a major investigation but insist there is no wider danger to the community.
Morning Shooting Shocks Quiet Kesgrave
Officers raced to Friends Walk just after 8:40am on Monday, 7 September, after reports of a teenager shot in broad daylight. The victim suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Armed Police Arrest Teen Suspect
Less than two hours later, armed officers arrested a 15-year-old boy from the Woodbridge area on suspicion of attempted murder. He was taken into custody at Martlesham Police Investigation Centre and is being questioned.
Top Cop Reassures Kesgrave Residents
“Our immediate thoughts are with the victim and his family, who we are fully supporting,” said Assistant Chief Constable Rob Jones.
“This attack has understandably caused alarm, but we are confident this was an isolated incident. There is no wider threat to Kesgrave or surrounding areas.”
“Crimes like this are extremely rare in Suffolk. We want parents to feel safe dropping off and collecting their children as normal.”
“Extra officers will patrol Kesgrave to reassure the public. Anyone with information should come forward immediately.”

Friends Walk and Through Jollys remain closed, with partial closures on Ropes Drive. Police urge locals to avoid these areas while enquiries continue.
