Woman Found Dead in Watlington Woods Sparks Murder Probe
Thames Valley Police launched a murder investigation after discovering the body of a woman in her sixties in woodland at Watlington Hill National Trust Estate.
Man Arrested and Hospitalised
The grim find was made around 5.53pm on Thursday (23/10). Officers quickly arrested a man on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody but is currently receiving treatment in hospital for serious injuries.
Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
“My thoughts remain with the deceased woman’s family at what must be a hugely distressing time,” said Detective Superintendent Craig Kirby of the Major Crime Unit.
“We are carrying out a thorough investigation to piece together what has happened to lead to this woman’s death.”
“We are particularly keen on speaking to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the Watlington Hill area before or around 5.50pm.”
“We are tentatively linking this incident to reports of a man acting suspiciously near the Fox and Hounds pub in Christmas Common at about 3.30pm.”
