Man in his 20s dies after East Malling brawl – man in 40s arrested

Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate are probing the death of a young man following a violent incident in East Malling.

Fight breaks out on Larkspur Close

Kent Police rushed to a property on Larkspur Close at 6.54pm on Monday 25 June after reports of an altercation between two acquaintances. Emergency crews, including South East Coast Ambulance Service, attended swiftly.

The man in his 20s was rushed to hospital but tragically later died from his injuries.

Suspect arrested at the scene

A local man in his 40s was arrested at the address in connection with the incident. He has since been bailed to return to custody on 17 July as the investigation continues.

Post-mortem and official referrals underway

A post-mortem is scheduled for Thursday 28 June to establish the cause of death. Meanwhile, Kent Police have voluntarily referred the case to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) to review their response to the row.
