250-Person Party Shut Down in Stanley Park – Organisers Hit with £10,000 Fine
Police swooped on a huge illegal gathering of around 250 revellers at the Isla Gladstone Conservatory in Stanley Park at 8.40pm. The event was immediately shut down, and organisers slapped with a hefty £10,000 fine.
Authorities Crack Down Amid Rising Covid Cases
The crowd was quickly dispersed, and ongoing investigations through licensing are underway. Superintendent Chris Gibson blasted the event, saying:
“The vast majority of people who live and work in Merseyside will absolutely despair that such an event could be contemplated in our current circumstances. The footage shows hundreds of people in close proximity, and lays bare the organisers’ blatant disregard for the serious health implications that this may now have for the most vulnerable people in our communities.”
Strict Fines for Rule Breakers
Gibson warned more enforcement is coming, especially over the weekend, with extra police on the streets. He added:
“If you do not follow the instructions of officers, individuals risk being given a £100 fine, doubling up to a maximum of £3,200 if it is not paid. It’s vital we take this action to deter the spread and reduce our increasing rate of infections.”
He urged people in Merseyside to keep following coronavirus restrictions to protect themselves and loved ones, warning that breaking rules risks more infections, deaths, and tougher lockdowns.
