Met Cracks Down on 11 Illegal Music Raves Across London

London’s Met Police smashed 11 unlicensed music events and illegal gatherings last night (Saturday, 31 October), sending a loud warning to rule-breakers. Officers from the Central Public Order Command Team acted swiftly to shut down raves and parties ignoring Covid restrictions.

1,000 at Naval Row Rave Nabbed

At Naval Row, E14, around 1,000 revellers gathered for a massive unlicensed event. Police arrived at 11:30pm and arrested seven people, slapping each with a £10,000 fixed penalty for breaching coronavirus rules. All suspects remain in custody while a haul of sound equipment and gear was seized.

Another illegal meetup hit Roseberry Road, E9, where 200 partygoers were quickly dispersed and their sound systems confiscated. Even a Tottenham Christening celebration wasn’t safe, seeing one person hit with a £10k fine.

Commander Adelekan Delivers Stern Warning

“If you think the next few days are an excuse to break the rules, think again. You will get caught, we will take action and impose the maximum sanctions,” said Commander Ade Adelekan.

He added, “UMEs are not only unsafe but openly flout Covid-19 restrictions. While most Londoners make sacrifices, a selfish few act like rules don’t apply to them. We take all reports seriously and will keep enforcing the law.”
