Moped Rider Busted with Stun Gun and Drugs in North London Chase
A moped rider has been arrested after a dramatic high-speed stop by Met Police’s Operation Venice Command officers in Islington and Haringey.
High-Speed Pursuit Ends on Alexander Road
At 8:20pm on Tuesday, 11 February, officers on patrol spotted a moped rider speeding away. Police motorcycles, backed by marked cars, safely brought the rider to a halt on Alexander Road, N19. He was detained immediately and searched on the spot.
Stun Gun and Class A Drugs Seized
The man was found carrying a stun gun and was promptly arrested. At a north London police station, a strip search revealed 21 rocks of crack cocaine and heroin. He now faces further charges of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
Operation Venice Cracks Down on Drug-Linked Violence
“The link between Class A drugs and the violence that has plagued London are intrinsically linked,” said Police Sergeant Tony McGovern from the Met’s Operation Venice Command. “Our officers will continue working around the clock to stop those using mopeds and scooters to smuggle drugs across the capital.”
The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
