Police have launched a murder inquiry after a woman in her 20s was found dead in Carlton, Nottinghamshire. Officers have set up multiple cordons as the search for answers heats up.
Man, 40, Arrested at Scene
Emergency services raced to a Westdale Lane West home at 10.07pm last night amid serious safety concerns. Despite their best efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. A 40-year-old man was immediately arrested in connection with the death.
Multiple Police Cordons Across Nottinghamshire
Police have sealed off three key areas: Westdale Lane East, Westdale Lane West, and Mapperley and Oxclose Lane in Bestwood. Forensics teams are meticulously combing the scene for clues to piece together what happened.
Nottinghamshire Police reassured the public this is an isolated incident with no wider threat.
Detectives Urge Witnesses to Help
“Our deepest condolences go to the woman’s family and friends. They are being supported by specially trained officers,” said Detective Inspector Stuart Barson, leading the investigation. “We are working quickly and urge anyone who was in the area before, during, or after the incident, or anyone with CCTV, dash-cam or mobile footage, to come forward. Residents will see increased patrols, but we believe there’s no ongoing threat to the public.”
The probe continues as police vow to bring justice for the victim and restore calm to the community.
