Two-Car Smash Closes Busy Dorset Road
At 8.06pm on Friday 30 October 2020, a crash involving a blue Nissan Juke and a silver Mercedes C220 brought the A354 between Veasta and Jurassic roundabouts to a standstill.
Injuries and Arrest Made at Scene
The Nissan driver, a man in his 20s, suffered minor injuries and was rushed to hospital as a precaution. The Mercedes driver, a man in his 40s from Weymouth, was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and also taken to hospital. He has since been released under investigation as police continue their enquiries.
Road Reopened After Hours of Chaos
The collision forced the closure of the A354, causing major travel disruption. Emergency services cleared the scene, and the road reopened at around 11pm.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage
“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area and witnessed the incident, or the manner of driving of either vehicle prior to the collision, to please get in touch,” said Police Constable Adam Chudley of Weymouth Police.
“I am also keen to speak to any motorists with dashcams who may have captured relevant footage.”
