Officers got a tip-off and quickly zeroed in on a suspicious Kia heading north on the M1 near Luton on Wednesday, 6 December. The car was followed and stopped for a stop-and-search.

Hidden Grow Operation Uncovered in Car

Inside, cops found a staggering 121 immature cannabis plants alongside mobile phones believed to be used for drug dealing. The haul pointed to a serious cultivation and supply operation.

Driver Arrested and Released on Bail

The 63-year-old driver from chelmsford/" title="Chelmsford" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Chelmsford was arrested on suspicion of cannabis cultivation. He was taken to Chelmsford Police Station but has now been released on bail until 27 January 2024 while investigations continue.

“Drugs won’t be tolerated here in Essex,” said Detective Sergeant Mike Monkton. “We’re working hard to stop cross-border drug activity that could harm our communities. There’s no border when tackling these issues. If anyone has info on cultivation or supply, we want to hear from you.”
