Gun and Cannabis Stash Raided in North London Flat
Police from the Violence Suppression Unit (VSU) have hauled in a loaded handgun, ammo, and a massive cannabis haul after raiding a flat in N17.
Suspicious Car Leads to Flat Discovery
It all began at 6.30pm on Monday, 27 July, when officers on patrol spotted an unattended vehicle on Gloucester Road. Inside the car, they found 30 bags of cannabis plus drug paraphernalia.
Tracking down the flat registered to the vehicle’s owner, cops forced entry into the boarded-up property. What they uncovered inside was shocking:
- Over 30 cannabis plants growing wild
- A loaded handgun
- More than 50 rounds of ammunition
Inspector Hails Big Win Against Violence
“Thanks to this dedicated resource to combat violence in the area, a gun has been taken off our streets along with a considerable amount of ammunition. Our work will no doubt have prevented that firearm from being used at some point,” said Inspector Niall O’Neill.
He added: “We are carrying out enquiries to trace the gun’s history and anyone involved with it. We’ve also stopped a large amount of Class B drugs from being dealt in the community. We’ll continue to bear down on violence and the VSU forms an essential part of this.”
Investigation Ongoing, No Arrests Yet
Despite the huge find, no arrests have been made so far. Trident detectives from the Specialist Crime Command are leading the probe, with a crime scene still in place at the flat.
The Violence Suppression Units are elite teams working round the clock to tackle weapons, drug offences, and violence on the streets. But they need your help. If you know anything about those carrying weapons or exploiting others, speak up and keep your community safe.
