Man and Woman Convicted Over Child Sexual Abuse in East London
A 37-year-old man and a woman have been found guilty of sexually abusing a child in a disturbing case that shocked East London. Ferdous Ahmad of Queensbridge Road, Hackney, and a woman from Devas Street, Tower Hamlets, stood trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court and were convicted on multiple serious charges.
Shocking Charges Against Ahmad and Accomplice
After a two-week trial ending Monday, 30 September, Ahmad was found guilty of:
- Two counts of sexual assault
- Engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child
- Inciting a child to engage in sexual activity
- Sexual communication with a child
The woman, who is the victim’s mother, was convicted of:
- Causing a child to engage in sexual activity
- Inciting a child to engage in sexual activity
Horrific Abuse Uncovered Between November 2023 and March 2024
The offences all took place from 29 November 2023 to 31 March 2024. Police launched an investigation in March after receiving a tip-off about Ahmad’s sexual communications with a teenage girl. They discovered he had repeatedly sexually abused the victim, while her mother sold her to Ahmad in exchange for money.
Detectives worked tirelessly, gathering medical, witness, digital, and forensic evidence to secure the convictions. Officers warn Ahmad may have targeted other children and urge anyone with information or victims to come forward.
