Thief Snatches Cash from Handbag in Broad Daylight
At around 4.50pm on 24 January 2023, a thief struck in The Mall, snatching cash from a woman’s handbag while she was paying for parking.
Police Release CCTV to Hunt Suspects
PC Jason Hill said: “We’ve been investigating and can now release CCTV images of two women who may help with our enquiries.”
He added: “These thefts are rare in this town, but shoppers must stay alert to avoid falling victim to opportunist thieves.”
Safety Tips to Avoid Becoming a Target
- Never leave handbags unattended on prams, wheelchairs, or shopping trolleys.
- Keep bags zipped up and in sight at all times.
- Don’t carry large amounts of cash.
- Consider using a purse chain to deter pickpockets.
