Luxury Watch Heist Hits Dartford Gym: SIM Swap Scandal
A crafty criminal pulled off a daring SIM swap scam at a Dartford gym, snatching two credit cards and raiding £25,000 worth of luxury watches from Bluewater stores.
What is SIM Swap Fraud?
SIM swap fraud happens when thieves steal your phone or SIM card to hijack your online accounts. This gives them access to banking apps, letting them change security settings and even your credit card PINs.
Locker Break-In at David Lloyd Health Club
On Thursday 13 January 2022, a man reported two credit cards stolen from his locker at the David Lloyd health club in Dartford. His SIM card had also been removed from his phone.
After contacting his banks, he discovered the crooks splashed nearly £25,000 on luxury watches from Bluewater shopping centre.
Police Hunt Man in Distinctive Under Armour Gear
PC James Weston of Kent Police revealed an appeal for help. “We have released images of a man who we believe can assist our investigation,” he said. “He’s wearing a face covering, but his facial hair and distinctive Under Armour clothing might make him recognisable.”
