Man caught red-handed trying to nab five bottles

Around 5.45pm on February 24, a man walked into Sainsbury’s at The Maltings and grabbed five bottles of whisky from the shelves. He slipped one bottle into his backpack, but his sneaky move didn’t go unnoticed.

Staff and public confront thief, face abuse

A staff member quickly confronted the man, who responded with threats and abuse. When a member of the public stepped in to help, the man turned his venom on them too.

Leaves with three bottles, threat of spit

The troublemaker handed back two bottles but kept three hidden in his bag. Before storming out, he threatened to spit at the member of the public.
