Murder Probe Launched After Fatal Brent Blaze
A murder investigation is underway after a deadly fire tore through a Brent home in the early hours.
Police were called to Alric Avenue, NW10, at 2:15am on Thursday, 16 April following reports of a fire at a residential address. Firefighters from the London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service rushed to the scene.
Woman Dies, Another Injured in Suspicious Fire
A 36-year-old woman was rushed to hospital with serious injuries but sadly died at 6:07am. Formal identification is pending, and a post-mortem will be carried out soon.
Another woman in her 60s was also hospitalised with non-life-threatening injuries.
Man Arrested on Arson Suspicion
Police are treating the fire as suspicious. A man in his 40s, believed to be known to the deceased, was arrested on suspicion of arson and is now in custody.
The Met’s Specialist Crime Command, led by Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, has taken over the investigation.
Call for Witnesses
A referral has been made to the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards following police contact with the victim hours before the blaze.
