Tragic Search Underway for Toddler Lost in Leicester River

Emergency crews raced to the River Soar in Leicester on Sunday evening after a 2-year-old boy vanished near the riverbank. The toddler, who was with family at Aylestone Meadows, slipped into the water just after 5pm. Despite frantic efforts by those nearby, the child remains missing.

Huge Rescue Operation in Full Swing

Specialist teams were quickly on the scene to launch a major search and rescue effort around Marsden Lane. A man was taken to hospital as a precaution, but the focus remains on finding the boy alive. The operation will continue through the night and will be boosted with extra resources at daybreak.

Police are providing dedicated support to the young boy’s family during this devastating time. Authorities have urged the public not to try and join the search, warning of dangerous rising water levels.
