A pedestrian has died after being hit by a fire engine on a roundabout at the junction of York Way and Old North Road, Royston. The collision happened around 8.45pm this evening. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
Emergency Response in Progress
The fire engine was responding to an emergency call while negotiating the roundabout when it struck the pedestrian. Ambulance crews also confirmed a second person suffered minor injuries and was rushed to Addenbrooke’s Hospital for treatment.

The fire engine remains on the road, causing closures at the roundabout, Rock Road, and near the Tesco Superstore junction on Old North Road. Local resident Andrew Fowler from Barrington, Cambridgeshire, commented on the scene as emergency services responded.
