A pedestrian has died after being hit by a fire engine on a roundabout at the junction of York Way and Old North Road, Royston. The collision happened around 8.45pm this evening. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.

The fire engine was responding to an emergency call while negotiating the roundabout when it struck the pedestrian. Ambulance crews also confirmed a second person suffered minor injuries and was rushed to Addenbrooke’s Hospital for treatment.
