Shoplifting Suspects Attack Security Guard in Shocking Lidl Brawl
Three men made a swift getaway from Lidl on Elettra Avenue around 8pm on Friday, January 22. A 40-year-old security guard suspected them of shoplifting and tried to stop them – but things quickly turned violent.
Security Guard Knocked Unconscious in Brutal Assault
One attacker lunged at the guard, knocking him unconscious and delivering heavy punches to his head and face while he was down. The guard suffered serious injuries to his face and mouth. A 41-year-old staff member rushed to help but was also punched before the trio fled the scene.
Police Hunt Trio Described as White Men, Ages 20-40
The suspects are all white males:
- Man 1 (Attacker): About 5ft 4in, aged 20-25, brown hair, light facial hair, wearing a blue quilted jacket, dark jeans, and white trainers.
- Man 2: Around 6ft 1in, aged 30-35, stocky, dark cropped hair, dark jacket, green/khaki jumper, light blue jeans, white Adidas trainers, carrying a white carrier bag.
- Man 3: About 5ft 9in, aged 35-40, short grey cropped hair, dark blue jacket, dark jeans, brown boots, slim build.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Detectives want anyone who saw the attack or knows the suspects to get in touch. Call Eastern CID on 101 and quote reference 44210025946.
The injured security guard is currently being treated at Queen Alexandra Hospital. Meanwhile, police have arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with the assault.
