Tragic Christmas Morning Crash Kills Young Woman in NW London
A 22-year-old woman has died after a shocking car crash on Christmas Day in north-west London. The fatal collision followed a vehicle’s failure to stop for police just before dawn.
Police Attempted to Stop Car on Hendon Way
At around 3:45am on Sunday, 25 December, officers on patrol in a marked vehicle signalled for a car to stop on Hendon Way, NW2. The driver refused and sped off. Police confirmed there was no pursuit.
Minutes later, the same car smashed into another vehicle and a lamppost at the Brent Cross Flyover, Hendon Way, NW4. The occupants abandoned the crashed car and fled on foot.
Fatal Injuries and Arrest
The passenger in the second vehicle, a 22-year-old woman, was critically injured. Despite efforts by the London Ambulance Service, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family has been informed.
The driver of the second car suffered a head injury but is not in a serious condition.
A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in custody. Police are actively searching for other occupants who fled the crashed car.
Road Closures and Appeal for Witnesses
Hendon Way and Brent Cross Flyover remain closed while emergency services manage the scene.
