Tragic Crash on A31 Leaves Man Dead After Collision and Hit-and-Run
Hampshire Constabulary rushed to the scene at 6.41pm after a silver Ford Focus smashed into the central reservation near Hangersley Hill. The car then sped along the A31 before coming to a halt at Rufus Stone services.
The 27-year-old driver abandoned the vehicle and crossed the westbound carriageway, where he was struck by two cars. Despite emergency crews’ best efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Road Reopened After Fatal Collision
Authorities closed the A31 in both directions during the response, but the road has now fully reopened. The man’s family have been informed and are receiving support from officers.
Police Launch Investigation, Seek Witnesses and Dashcam Footage
Senior Investigating Officer PS Jonathan White said: “Enquiries to determine the circumstances of this incident are ongoing. We urge anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage of the moments leading up to it to come forward.”
