Kids Poisoned by Cannabis Sweets in Bradford
Just after midnight on Saturday, emergency crews rushed to a Great Horton home where an eight-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl were found seriously ill with poisoning symptoms. Both were whisked to hospital, with fears especially high for the young boy’s life.
Edibles Behind the Scare
It soon emerged the kids had eaten cannabis “edibles” – sweets loaded with THC, the intoxicating ingredient in cannabis. Thankfully, both have now recovered and were discharged from hospital.
Another Teen Taken Ill After Cannabis Sweets
Later that same day, Bradford Royal Infirmary staff alerted police about a 15-year-old boy from Great Horton who fell ill after eating similar edibles. He too has made a full recovery.
Police Warn of Dangers and Call for Info
Superintendent Richard Padwell said: “These incidents are a real cause for concern. We feared the worst for the youngest child. These edibles look like regular branded sweets, making them tempting to kids, but they carry very high THC levels which can cause severe illness quickly.”
Police are investigating how these children acquired the cannabis sweets. Anyone with information on these or any similar products in Bradford is urged to call 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
