Heartless Scam Targets Grantham Granny
A woman in her 80s was conned out of a hefty sum after fraudsters posing as police officers twisted her arm. The crooks convinced her over the phone to withdraw cash and hand it over to a “police courier” who then showed up at her home in Buckminster Lane, Skillington, Grantham on 5 July.
Police Warn: No One Legit Will Ask for Cash at Your Door
Authorities stress this scam is pure filth. “You would never be asked by a genuine organisation or business to give money to someone collecting it from your house,” they say.
Police Hunt for Dashcam Witnesses
Investigators are following fresh leads and urge anyone with dashcam footage from the area between 1.30pm and 3pm on 5 July to come forward.
PC Rachel Smith from Grantham CID said: “This scam is cruel and invasive. The victim was targeted in her own home — the one place she should feel safe. Despite her suspicions and questions, the scammers found ways to trick her.”
“We’re eager to hear from commuters, locals, or anyone who was nearby. Any information could help us catch these despicable criminals and support our victim.”
“The money lost here isn’t small change.”
