Police Chase Ends in Crashing Chaos in Southampton
A pedestrian has been hurt after an unmarked police car crashed into a shop during a high-speed chase in Southampton.
High-Speed Pursuit Turns Dangerous
The drama unfolded shortly after 2pm in Victoria Road, Woolston, near the Victoria Hotel pub. The police BMW, chasing a suspected burglar, lost control and veered off the road. It smashed into the window of Victoria News newsagent and clipped a parked car, causing minor damage.
Pedestrian Injured and Suspect Arrested
A 23-year-old man on foot was hit by the police car amid the chaos. He was rushed to hospital for treatment. According to a police spokesperson, the injured man “was being sought by police at the time of the collision” and has now been arrested on suspicion of multiple dwelling burglaries.
