Met Police Snag Four in Terror Raids Across London and Leicestershire

Counter Terror Squad Makes Major Moves

The Met Police’s Counter Terrorism Command swooped on Thursday, 9 July, nabbing four men in a high-stakes probe into suspected Islamist extremist activity. A 17-year-old teen has been granted extended detention as inquiries ramp up.

Raids Target East London and Leicestershire

  • A 27-year-old and a 31-year-old were both detained at separate east London addresses, alongside the 17-year-old.
  • In Leicestershire, a 32-year-old man was arrested without armed officers involved.

All four face suspicion of planning or aiding terrorism under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

Armed Officers and Police Dogs in Action

Armed police backed the east London raids. No shots were fired during arrests, but one suspect suffered a bite to the foot from a police dog and was treated in hospital.

Operation Ongoing

Officers have searched six addresses across London and Leicestershire and continue to investigate. The men remain held at a central London police station as enquiries roll on.
