Tragic Death of Woman in Derbyshire Sparks Urgent Police Probe

A woman, named locally as Freda Walker, has died at her home in Langwith Junction, Derbyshire. The man believed to be her husband, 88-year-old Ken Walker, was rushed to hospital for treatment.

Police Called After Early Morning Emergency

Paramedics alerted police at 9:30am on Saturday following the incident at the couple’s Station Road residence. Derbyshire Police confirmed the woman’s age as 88, though a friend suggested she was 85.

Chief Superintendent Hayley Barnett said the couple’s family have been informed and are receiving support. She urged anyone with information to come forward “as a matter of urgency.”

“This is an understandably shocking incident for the community in Langwith Junction,” Barnett said. “Our thoughts are with everyone affected, especially the family and friends of the couple.”

Police remain at the scene, and residents near Station Road should expect a heavier police presence in the coming days.
