Crackdown launched as antisocial behaviour spikes again in Broxtowe
Police have ramped up action following a surge in antisocial behaviour in Broxtowe, with high-visibility patrols hitting hotspot areas. Officers are targeting troublemakers head-on while reassuring worried locals.
Operation Potassium Sees Results – Now It’s Time for More
The crackdown builds on the success of Operation Potassium, launched last October. Since its start, antisocial behaviour reports dropped by nearly a third (31%) from August’s peak. Now, the scheme has evolved into Operation Potassium Plus, bringing Nottinghamshire Police and Broxtowe Borough Council closer than ever.
Turning Youth Off Streets with Positive Projects
The latest phase offers young people alternatives to hanging about on the streets. Through the pilot project, initiatives like the Chayah Development Project provide activities and interventions designed to keep youths engaged in positive ways, working hand-in-hand with police efforts.
Top Cop Vows Tougher Action
Inspector Mike Ebbins, Broxtowe District Commander, said: “We’ve seen antisocial behaviour spike again and have listened to concerns. We’re taking firm action to tackle it.
“Even with successes from Operation Potassium, we’re far from complacent. Cracking down is a top priority. Patrols are reinvigorated and will continue long-term, with officers dealing firmly with offenders and even patrolling trams to keep people safe.”
