Instagram Scam Costs Woman £1,000 with False £19,000 Payout Promise

Jayne* fell victim to a sneaky Instagram scam when a friend’s hijacked account slid into her DMs. The fraudsters convinced her to invest £1,000 with the tempting promise of a massive £19,000 return.

Scammers Demand More Cash and Personal Details

To “secure” her payout, Jayne was pushed to create a promotional video for the scam scheme. She was also pressured into handing over her login details to “prove her identity.”

That’s when Jayne’s own account was hijacked. The crooks then used her video to scam her friends, spreading the fraud further.
