Instagram Scam Shocks Victim After Friend’s Account Hijacked
£1,000 Turned Into Nightmare
Jayne* thought she was investing wisely when a “friend” messaged her on Instagram. Unknown to her, the friend’s account had been hijacked by crooks. They convinced Jayne to hand over £1,000 with a promised return of a whopping £19,000.
Fake Promises and Fraudulent Videos
The scammers didn’t stop there. To secure her “big payout,” Jayne had to make a promotional video for the bogus investment scheme. She was then tricked into giving away her Instagram login and password to “prove her identity.” The result? Her account was hijacked too, and her video was weaponised to scam more unsuspecting friends.
