Woman Shot Dead in Wallasey Village Pub – Murder Probe Launched
Police in Merseyside have launched a murder investigation after a young woman was fatally shot at the Lighthouse Inn in Wallasey Village on Christmas Eve.
Gunshots Fired at Packed Pub
Officers were called to the scene just after 11:50pm on Saturday, 24 December, following reports of gunfire at the popular venue. The woman was rushed to hospital with a gunshot wound but sadly died. Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
Multiple Victims Including Three Men Hospitalised
Alongside the tragic fatality, three men were also treated for gunshot wounds, and several others suffered injuries during the incident. Police have established a cordon around the area to carry out forensic work and gather CCTV footage.
Detectives Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
Detective Superintendent Dave McCaughrean said:
“This is a truly shocking and devastating incident so close to Christmas in a busy venue full of young people. We have officers conducting extensive enquiries at Wallasey Village to understand exactly what happened and to take immediate action.”
He added:
“We believe the gunman fled in a dark-coloured vehicle, possibly a Mercedes, from the pub car park shortly after the shooting. We urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has CCTV or mobile footage to contact us immediately.”
