Woman Attacked After Asking for Directions on Northern Parade
A woman in her 40s was horrifically raped in the early hours after asking a stranger for directions while walking along Northern Parade. The attack happened between 1 and 2 a.m.
Suspect Description Released
The man is described as:
- Age: 22 to 24 years old
- Average height and build
- Blonde tuft of hair at the front
- Wearing a grey tracksuit
He reportedly walked alongside the woman briefly before the attack.
Police Launch Urgent Appeal for Information
Detective Inspector Richard Gibson from Hampshire Constabulary’s Operation Amberstone team urged locals to come forward with any info. He said:
“Were you in the area between 1 and 2 a.m. on Wednesday? Did you see anyone matching this description or anything suspicious? Even if you think it’s trivial, please get in touch.”
Officers are stepping up patrols in Northern Parade, Gladys Avenue, and Magdalen Road. They’re also asking residents with CCTV, Ring Doorbell, or dash cam footage to check for anything that might help.
