Emergency crews raced to The Old Piano School in Appleton Gate, Newark, after a massive blaze broke out around 7.30pm on Wednesday (18 May).

Thankfully, no one was hurt. But the fire caused serious damage to the historic building, forcing the evacuation of several nearby homes and businesses.

Police Hunt for Clues as Cause Remains a Mystery

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Nottinghamshire Police are urgently appealing for witnesses who saw anything suspicious in the area that evening.

Detective Inspector Nicholas Hall said: “This was a large fire that led to the evacuation of several neighbouring properties. We are working closely with Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service to understand how this blaze started. We want to hear from anyone who was in the area or has information on what happened.”
