Man Found Dead in Norwich River Sparks Police Probe
Body Discovered by Friendship Bridge
Emergency services were called to the Riverside area in Norwich at 4:26 AM on Saturday, 11 January after a man’s body was pulled from the River Wensum near the Novi Sad Friendship Bridge.
- Norfolk Police, fire crews, and paramedics recovered the man, believed to be in his 40s.
- He was rushed to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
- The death is currently classed as unexplained, with next of kin notified.
Who Was He? Distinctive Clothing Stands Out
The deceased is described as:
- Asian, slim build, approximately 5ft 9in tall
- Wearing a black North Face puffer jacket and black trousers
- Sporting a distinctive wide-brimmed hat
- Carrying a large black holdall bag
Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
“We are appealing for anyone who was in the Riverside area of Norwich in the early hours of Saturday morning and may have seen anything unusual to contact us.”
“We are also requesting any relevant dashcam or CCTV footage that could assist the investigation.”
Detectives are determined to find out how or why the man ended up in the water and need public help.
