Three Police Officers Injured in Brutal Wandsworth Pub Brawl
Police are hunting witnesses after three officers were hurt tackling a massive pub fight in Wandsworth.
Chaos Erupts at East Hill Pub
Officers were called at 9.30pm on Sunday, 13 May, following reports of two men fighting at a pub on East Hill, SW18. When they arrived, they were met by a large gang throwing chairs and glasses.
The situation quickly spiralled out of control, forcing officers to call in backup from the Territorial Support Group. Tasers and CS spray were used to contain the mayhem.
Officers Suffer Serious Injuries
Three policemen were injured while trying to arrest the troublemakers. One officer suffered a fractured cheekbone. All were rushed to a south London hospital but have since been discharged.
Four Arrested Amid Road Closures
The aftermath saw road closures and a crime scene set up, now cleared. Four males aged between 20 and 53 were arrested on suspicion of affray and grievous bodily harm (GBH). They remain in custody at a south London police station.
Police Plea for Witnesses
“This is a shocking, brutal and unacceptable incident that has resulted in our officers sustaining serious injuries in the course of their duty,” said Superintendent Peter Gardner of Wandsworth police. “I would like to commend the bravery shown by our officers and thank those officers from across the MPS that responded to assist them.” “I would urge anyone who witnessed this incident to contact police.”
Witnesses are urged to call police on 101, quoting reference 6819 of 13 May.
