Brazen Moped Thieves Flee in Orpington Chase
Two men in balaclavas made a daring escape on a stolen moped in Orpington this morning (Wednesday, January 8) – but police were hot on their tail.
Jumped Red Light Sparks High-Speed Pursuit
The duo, riding two-up, reportedly jumped a red light before speeding off along the busy High Street at around 11am. Their reckless stunt caught immediate attention.
Met Police Launch Full-Scale Hunt
Six marked and two unmarked Met Police cars joined the chase. A National Air Support helicopter was scrambled to track the suspects, who stubbornly refused to wear helmets.
Thieves Abandon Moped, Make Foot Escape
The short but intense pursuit ended in Knoll Rise, where both men ditched the bike and tried to run on foot. Officers quickly detained them and ended the drama.
The Met Police have been approached for comment.
