Gunfight Shuts Down Brixton Streets in Early Morning Chaos
A violent gunbattle erupted just yards from the Brixton O2 Academy in the early hours of Sunday, November 27. Stockwell Road and Benedict Road remain blocked in both directions as armed Metropolitan Police officers and London Ambulance paramedics respond to the scene.
Man Shot Near Brixton O2 Academy, Trident Unit Investigates
The shooting happened just after 3am on Benedict Road near Stockwell Road. A man is believed to have been shot during the incident. Trident officers are leading the investigation into the serious shooting.
A large crime scene is in place with dozens of 6mm bullet casings visible on the road, now covered by police plastic bags. Witnesses report a black Mercedes parked with damage and a white BMW with shattered windows stranded in the middle of Stockwell Road. The BMW’s driver is understood to have been fired at multiple times while fleeing the scene.
Manhunt Underway as Police Review CCTV
So far, no arrests have been made. Police are urgently trawling CCTV footage from nearby streets to identify the gunman and piece together the incident. A manhunt is ongoing as officers work to track down suspects.
Bus Routes and Roads Disrupted
- Bus routes 2, 196, 322, 333, 345, and N2 are currently affected.
- Additional road closures are blocking traffic at the junction of Rumsey Road.
These closures are expected to remain for some time as police continue their investigation into the shooting.
